PIANC-Japan Young Professionals (YPs) made a technical visit to Naha City, and attended the 3rd PIANC YP-Com Asia-Pacific Seminar in Korea.(2018/12/1)

PIANC-Japan Young Professionals (YPs) made a technical visit to Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture

on 17-18 October 2018. On the second day, a meeting was held to exchange technical information

among participants and to talk about YP-Com events.

In addition, PIANC-Japan Young Professionals (YPs) attended the 3rd PIANC YP-Com Asia-Pacific

Seminar in Korea between 28 October and 2 November 2018.


PIANC-Japan Young Professionals (YPs) made a technical visit to Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture

on 17-18 October 2018. Members visited and observed Naha Airport, where the second runway was being reclaimed and constructed, International Ferry Terminal, International Container Terminal, and newly-built seaside road of Naha Port. Reclamation for the second runway was nearly completed, and the runway was to be used from the end of the next year. Regarding quay walls, demand for international ferries had increased, and quay walls for cargo were to be used for berthing of ferries.

On the second day, we had an exchange meeting for technical information and a meeting about YP-Com events. In the information exchange, participants introduced their own recent efforts at work. At the meeting about YP-Com events, we talked especially about the contents of the parallel event with AGA in Kobe next year.

In addition, PIANC-Japan Young Professionals (YPs) attended the 3rd PIANC YP-Com Asia-Pacific

Seminar in Korea between 28 October and 2 November 2018.The first Asian Seminar was held in

Japan 4 years ago, and the seminar held this time is the 3rd. The seminar included various types of

presentations from senior members and YP members, workshops, and site tours. The number of

participants in the seminar was 34 from outside Korea and 34 from Korea, which was quite a large

seminar. Oversea members were from the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Iran, China,

New Zealand, USA, Belgium, and Japan.
