PIANC Asian Seminar 2022 (Report) PIANC Asian Seminar 2022 (Report) Outline PIANC-Japan successfully held the PIANC Asian Seminar 2022 on 27 May 2022. This seminar, the second of its kind, was organized as a webinar open to the world, mainly targeting Asian engineers. This time, we invited top-ranking researchers and experts in Asian region as lecturers in the Seminar featuring "Toward Sustainable and Smart Marine Infrastructure - Maintenance Technology for Concrete Port Infrastructure - " With the support of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a total of 280 people from 17 countries/regions participated in the Seminar and gained a deeper understanding of maintenance technology for concrete port infrastructures. About 80 people attended the Seminar from overseas (mostly from the Philippines, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Indonesia), and thus we have achieved a big success as an international seminar.
Program Date: 11 May 2021, 15:30-18:00 JST (GMT+0900) Facilitator: Mr. Yutaka Tanaka, Senior Researcher, Port and Airport Research Institute, Japan
Opening Address Mr. Mitsuhiko Okada, Vice President of PIANC, and Chairman of PIANC-Japan
Video Massage from President of PIANC Mr. Francisco Esteban Lefler, President of PIANC Lecture 1: "Latest Topics on Maintenance of Port Structure in Japan" Dr. Mitsuyasu Iwanami, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan Outline of Presentation: Deterioration cases of concrete port structure Appropriate maintenance of port structure (Preventive maintenance management) Trend of research and development on maintenance technology (Maintenance technology based on AI) Lecture 2: Part I "Thai Standard for Chloride Attack" Part II "Development of Concrete Skin by Mixed with Crystalline Materials and Applied with Electricity" Dr. Wanchai Yodsudjai, Kasetsart University, Thailand Outline of Presentation: Part I "Thai Standard for Chloride Attack" Chloride attack standard of Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, Ministry of Interior, Thailand Part II "Development of Concrete Skin by Mixed with Crystalline Materials and Applied with Electricity" Introduction of crystalline materials (MgO - AL2O3 - SiO2) Results of electricity applying test (Concrete mixed with crystalline materials and with electrical charge has the highest compressive strength and the strongest resistance to chloride penetration) Lecture 3: "Durability of Concrete Structures: Bangladesh Perspective" Dr. Mohammed Tarek Uddin, Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh Outline of Presentation: Sustainability of construction materials (Recycling of brick aggregate concrete as coarse aggregate, utilization of alternative construction materials such as slag and blocks, utilization of mineral admixtures with cement) Concrete carbonation and superiority of utilization of slag-based cement against chloride attack
