Maritime Navigation Commission (MarCom) and MarCom Seminar in Japan 2013 were held.

The Maritime Navigation Commission (MarCom) (Chairman ; Mr. F. Esteban Lefler (Spain)) was held on 11-12 September 2013 at the Hotel Metropolitan Sendai, in Sendai. It was the first meeting held in the Asia region. On September 11, 2013, 9 members (Spain, France, Norway, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, United States, India and Japan) and 2 observers gathered in the meeting venue. In addition to reviewing the work of the MarCom Working Groups, improvements on Future WG management proceess were also discussed.

Invitation to the PIANC MarCom Seminar in Japan 2013

PIANC-Japan plans to hold "PIANC MarCom Seminar in Japan 2013" in the afternoon of Septermber 13, 2013 in Tokyo to be co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT), the Overseas Coastal Area Developement Institute of Japan (OCDI) and the Coastal Development Institute of Technology (CDIT).

De Paepe-Willems Award of 2013 is to be given to Mr. Hiroshi Matsushita of Nikken Kogaku Co., Ltd., Japan

The PIANC ExCom held on January 31, 2013 decided to give the De Paepe-Willems Award of 2013 to the paper titled "Breakwater Reinforcement Method against Large Tsunami" and authored by Mr. Hiroshi Matsushita of Nikken Kogaku Co., Ltd., Japan.

Mr. Yutaka Sunohara is elected as a new president of PIANC-Japan

On the occasion of a general assembly of PIANC-Japan held on the 21^st June 2011, Mr. Y Sunohara who is a former director general of Port and Harbour Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and a former chief delegate of PIANC from Japanese Government as well was elected as a new president of PIANC-Japan replacing Mr. Y. Kawashima who still maintains a position of the vice-president of PIANC.

PIANC 125th Anniversary Celebration in Asia comes to successful end

For the 125^th anniversary of PIANC, the organizing committee chaired by the Director General of the Port and Harbour Bureau, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Mr. Hayashida hosted a celebration event in the Asian region between the 12^th and 14^th September 2010 in Nagoya. About 700 participants including about 80 persons from 41 countries took part in the celebration. The event was honored by the attendance of His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince. PIANC 125th Anniversary Celebration in Asia is scheduled to be held in September 2010 in Nagoya

PIANC established in 1885 will greet its 125th anniversary in 2010.

On this occasion, anniversary events are scheduled to be held over the world including UK, South-Africa, Argentina and Japan.

Japan will host the event representing Asian region between 11th and 15th September 2010.
